My sponge turned soaked but left some water behind

Every sponge has a search limit. In a large lake, lower tiers run out before reaching their full reach. Use a higher tier, or place several sponges. The range explorer shows how far each tier clears in open water.

Can I compress wet or hot sponges?

No. Compression and decompression only use dry sponges. Reset soaked sponges first (see Resetting).

How do I reset a hot lava sponge without a snowy biome?

Use a Freezer. A normal furnace does not work on hot lava sponges or burnt fire sponges.

Why does a hot lava sponge hurt me?

Hot lava sponges burn anything that walks on them, like magma blocks. Sneak across them.

My frozen snow sponge disappeared when I broke it

Frozen sponges break like snow blocks and drop nothing unless you use a hoe.

I never see sponge traders

• Check that /gamerule moresponge:spawn_sponge_traders is true.
• Traders only spawn in matching biomes. Plains and forests have no sponge trader.
• There is only one try per in-game day, starting at a 30% chance.
• Spawn eggs work in any biome.

Does this work with the vanilla sponge?

Yes. The vanilla sponge is the base of the water line, and four of them make a Compressed Sponge 1x. The vanilla sponge and wet sponge are not changed.
